Photonic Networks & Technologies National Laboratory

The Photonic Networks & Technologies National Laboratory (PNTLab) carries out basic and applied research activities on photonic networks, integrated photonics, and in related fields.

In the next future, photonics and integrated photonics will be key enabling technologies in several fields: not only in optical communications, but also in wireless communications, sensing, security, biology, allowing applications that will permeate our everyday lives. The PNTLAb can count on a fully equipped laboratory for experimental activities in the fields of photonics and integrated photonics.

The Integrated Photonics Design Center provides from basic design of passive and active photonic building blocks to creation of design libraries compliant with microelectronics IC design environments. The target is to develop performing and power efficient photonic circuits suitable for photonic-electronic integration.
