5G & Co. 2024. Everything is Connected (5G Italy 2024, Sixth Edition), 16 – 17 April, 2024

The sixth edition of 5G Italy, the leading international conference in the Telecommunications sector, organized by the Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni – CNIT (National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications), was held at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome (via Milano 9/A) on April 16 and 17. This year’s title was “5G & Co. 2024. Everything is Connected“, underlining how the use of 5G is expanding to different fields of application.

The conference covered the new services and applications and the vertical sectors needed to create the new ecosystem based on the long-awaited standalone network infrastructure. Coming out of its growth phase, 5G is quietly but steadily evolving towards a variety of widespread applications, especially for the benefit of businesses. This process is taking place in a critical political context, with the European Commission elections just around the corner. The advent of Artificial Intelligence and its consequences in terms of regulation and ethics are now central to the global debate, in a geopolitical context made more complex by the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

The 5G & Co. conference is part of an extremely delicate historical context and presented a series of thematic panels, including:

  • The main advantages of 5G for the business world
  • The main obstacles to the full implementation of the new mobile standard
  • The new technologies coming with 5G (Cloud, Edge, AI, Metaverse, Open Ran and DAS)
  • Electromagnetic limits, private networks and vertical sectors
  • The European strategy for an efficient and harmonized development of the radio spectrum
  • Business cases in the energy and healthcare sector
