WiLab: Inaugural event
On 30th September 2021, from 10.00 AM, took place the inaugural event Benvenuti al WiLab: l’ecosistema 5G (e oltre) per la ripresa – Welcome to WiLab: the 5G ecosystem (and beyond) for recovery at WiLab.
The event was held at Opificio Golinelli, via Paolo Nanni Costa 14, Bologna.
WiLab is the National Laboratory of Wireless Communications of CNIT, the National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications, founded in 2020 by the Universities of Bologna, Ferrara and CNR. The laboratory aims to become the national reference point for wireless in the long term.
WiLab carries out scientific research and pursues industrial innovation in the fields of 5G networks, the Internet of Things, localisation and tracking.
After just one year, the Laboratory is already attended by professors and researchers from many other universities, consortium members through the CNIT.
In its first year of activity, WiLab signed agreements and contracts with companies such as TIM, JMA Wireless, Huawei and others. In addition, a strategic agreement has been drawn up between WiLab and BI-REX, the MISE competence centre, and other bodies.
The inauguration of the new WiLab spaces has therefore become an opportunity to discuss the role of 5G and wireless technologies in the recovery and economic development of the country; a meeting point between companies, institutions and the world of research, where people had the opportunity to touch the applications of 5G and wireless innovations.

There were short speeches, institutional greetings and numerous demos by WiLab and its partner institutions.
