Telecommunications of the Future 2026: from Research to Market
Telecommunications of the Future 2026: from Research to Market is a national event organized by Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT). It is dedicated to presenting and promoting the most advanced research results developed within the RESTART Program as well as by the broader CNIT community, with particular attention to their potential for technology transfer to the market.
The initiative is addressed to the Italian community of academic research, industry, service providers, and institutions, with the aim of fostering structured dialogue among the various stakeholders of the telecommunications innovation ecosystem.
The event aims to highlight a selection of results from the RESTART Program and CNIT researchers that have reached a particularly high level of technological maturity (Technology Readiness Level – TRL), enabling their evolution into commercial products, solutions, or services. In this context, innovation value chains, technological platforms, and specific project outputs that demonstrate a clear pathway toward industrial exploitation will be identified and presented.
A distinctive feature of the initiative is the joint presentation of innovation lines by the research groups that developed them and by the companies, organizations, or institutions that have expressed interest in their commercial exploitation. This approach aims to:
- foster the meeting of innovation supply and demand;
- stimulate public–private collaborations;
- clarify possible technology transfer models;
- outline the subsequent phases of development, industrialization, and market entry.
The event program will be structured into thematic sessions dedicated to the main technological areas relevant to the future of telecommunications and may include technical presentations, discussion panels, and networking opportunities, with the objective of strengthening dialogue between research and industry and facilitating the emergence of collaboration opportunities.
The definition of the event’s scientific and technological content is entrusted to a Technical Program Committee, constituted by the CNIT Executive Board, composed of:
- Raffaele Bolla, University of Genoa
- Francesco Malandrino, National Research Council (CNR)
- Giacomo Oliveri, University of Trento
- Giuseppe Ruello, University of Naples Federico II
- Marco Savi, University of Milano-Bicocca
The Technical Program Committee will ensure the quality, coherence, and relevance of the selected innovation lines, guaranteeing the alignment of the event with the strategic objectives of the RESTART Program and with the needs of the industrial and service sectors.
Telecommunications of the Future 2026: from Research to Market will take place on April 8–9, 2026, in Villa Palestro, Via Palestro 24, Roma.
Participation is reserved for members of the RESTART and CNIT communities.
Participation is free of charge, subject to mandatory registration (at this link).
