Prof. Giancarlo Prati has been awarded the honorary distinction of Commander of the Order of “Merit of the Italian Republic”
On the 2nd of June at the Italian Embassy in Tokyo, Prof. Giancarlo Prati has been awarded the honorary distinction of Commander of the Order of “Merit of the Italian Republic”
The request for this prestigious recognition has been endorsed by the CNIT Board of Directors and the Consortium Members to acknowledge Prof. Prati’s excellence throughout his long and distinctive career. Amongst the various motivations supporting the nomination we cite: ”Professor Giancarlo Prati has given a major contribution to the development of science in Italy, not only through his own research in the sector of telecommunications recognised at international level, but also by strengthening the Italian University system, which allowed many researchers to better express their potentials in a synergic and coordinated way. In 1994 Professor Prati proposed the creation of the Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT), which was officially established on 10th January 1995 between the 6 founding universities of Bologna, Firenze, Genova, Parma, Pisa and Polytechnic of Turin […], and he contributed to its growth over the years, to a world renown institution. CNIT is a precious and irreplaceable heritage for Italian researchers, promoting knowledge across a broad spectrum of research, supporting highly complex projects, encouraging the involvement of small and medium sized universities and supporting the introduction of young researchers into the research world“.
We would like to congratulate Prof. Prati for this very prestigious award, together with our best wishes and renewed respect and gratitude for his invaluable experience.
